Vide Grenier on Monday, J L Carr Day on 1st September, H.Art opens on the 8th of September
Another very busy week in Aardvark towers getting ready for multiple events over the next few weeks. First up is the Vide Grenier on Monday 27th. As usual it is the every popular mixture of stalls and live music ( this year we are again welcoming Blue Moon Blues Band). Then on Saturday the 1st we are celebrating the extraordinary polymath J L Carr, whose novels, publishing activities and maps are truly an extraordinary and under known story. Best known for his novel 'A Month in Country', Carr wrote many other novels as well as founding the Quince Tree Press.
We have also been working hard on preparatiions for the start of our H.Art exhibition 'Autumn Medley' curated by Drusilla Cole. A wonderful eclectic mixture of painting, sculpture, jewellery, textiles, prints, chairmaking and wood turning and glass. The exhibition opens on the 8th of September and I am really looking forward to seeing it. We are then open until the 23rd of September so there are lots of opportunities to come and view it.
Finally we are really excited to be running the Festival Bookshop at this year's Ludlow Festival. An incredible mixture of speakers and chefs including Alys Fowler and Thomasina Miers. This year's festival is promising to be one of the best ever, so if you have not been for a few years why not make this year the time to reacquaint yourself with one of the region's great events.
Finally on the book front all the recently purchased art books are now out on the shelves and tables of the shop, but there are still many other recent purchases waiting to go through. The bookshop is looking as good as it has looked for years, and I would like to thank all the Aardvark team for working so hard to make it easier to navigate and more appealing.
