Thanks for the Christmas Fair, Poetry Breakfast, 2019
Many thanks to all our customers who came to Aardvark last Sunday for the Christmas Fair. After a relatively slow start it rapidly became one of our busiest events of the year, and my sincere apologies to any-one who had to wait either to pay at the desk or in the café. We do our best to process transactions quickly, but sometimes it does take a little time. Thank you to to the young team who ran the café with Eleanor and Sarah. They were all simply fantastic. Finally many thanks to Dutch Lewis and his trio. What a treat to have such experienced and talented musicians playing at Aardvark.
But now the Fair is over and we are getting ready for Christmas itself. Don't forget if you are looking for things to do over the holiday season Aardvark is only closed on the 25th and 26th of December and the 1st of January. Otherwise we are open as usual, and the café is available for cake and hot chocolate in the event of the threatened holiday freeze transpiring.
Before Christmas we have our second poetry breakfast on the 19th of December from 9.30-10.30am. Due to the season we are offering home made Mince pies with cream instead of croissant, and the theme of the poems will be 'Midwinter'. A wonderful chance to allow a little poetry into your life.
Amongst other unmissables today's critics choice edition of R3 CD review is available on the new Sounds App for a month, and come January advance information for this year's Borderlines (which Aardvark is again sponsoring) will be available - as will the new 2019 Aardvark programme leaflet. January marks an incredible 15 years since Edward Tobin and I started Aardvark, and each year we have gone from strength to strength. Sadly in April 2019 it will also be five years since we lost Edward, but his legacy continues in everything that we do.
So have a wonderful Christmas and don't forget that there is no better present to give to a child (or adult) of any age than a good book!
