Last weekend of Fire and Earth Ceramics exhibit, excitement ahead of 'Maps and Mansions', big house clearance
This week has been another madly busy one, not helped by the return of my 2017 cold which has now been with me off and on since the start of the year. Lots of people through the shop, café and exhibition ( we have had to put in for an emergency cake order this morning as we had been eaten almost out of house and home). Many very positive comments about 'Fire and Earth' and numerous additional sales. Again massive thanks to Shannon Donovan and Andrew Eastwood who put so much into making this show possible. Two days left to see it so do not delay!
Alongside the current exhibition there has also been lots of work ahead of next weekends opening of our annual map exhibition 'Maps and Mansions'. Numerous calls and emails from collectors as to what will be in the show, and some good advanced interest from local media. Speaking of media Arthur Aardvark appeared on the BBC Hereford and Worcester breakfast show this week, and has also been quoted at length by the bookseller ahead of their major article on the annual 'Books are my Bag Promotion'. Speaking of which this year's bag will be designed by the great Axel Scheffler of Gruffalo fame!
Alongside all of the above we also found time to fit in a massive house clearance of several thousand titles ( particularly strong in art, history, railways, music and poetry). These now take up five whole pallets in the warehouse, and this morning I am making my first foray into starting to list them. There will be numerous gems, and the biggest problem will be forcing myself not to take many of them home to Aardvark towers!
Finally lots of stall bookings coming in for our May Brocante/Fleamarket on the 29th of May. This is looking at being one of our busiest Brocantes ever and stalls remain an unbelievably reasonable £10. If you have done one of our Brocantes before and would like to return, or if you are a first timer, get in touch now whilst there are still spaces. If you are planning on coming as a visitor then as ever admission and parking are free, and there will be music and fantastic food as well.
