Spring Music Event, Website, Graham Arnold, 'The Flower Garden'
Many thanks to Gareth Rees-Roberts for coming back to Aardvark to play a programme of Argentine guitar music yesterday. Thanks also to the record numbers who came and to the hard working Aardvark team ( this was Jenny and Laura's first Aardvark event). My apologies to any-one who had to wait to be served ( at times the queues were long) and to any-one who came and was unable to find a seat. There are further opportunities to hear music at Aardvark on the 20th of April, the 13th of July and the 26th of August. On the 20th of April the Trevor Davies trio will incorporate a fantastic young singer - more details on the website.
Speaking of the website we have now had in the first designs for the new website and we are starting to get really excited about what is proposed. Our old website was created over 8 year ago and has served us well, but the new site will be much more geared to our ever growing events programme as well as being easier to order through. We will let you know when the new site goes live.
This year has already seen us lose a number of friends and customers and yesterday brought news of the death of Graham Arnold - a staunch Aardvark customer since our early days, and an important painter and co-founder of the Brotherhood of Ruralists. His friendship to many in the artistic community locally is well known, and he was a frequent organiser of exhibitions for local artists and crafts people. He combined in his personality a ready wit, a charming manner and a fierce intellect. I had many discussions with him about artistic subjects over the years and I will miss him very much.
Finally our next event will be 'The Flower Garden' a group exhibition featuring Ruth Kirkby, Sabina Rüber, Lottie O'Leary and Tony Hall. The exhibition will open with a Private View on the 19th of April and will then run until the 6th of May. It is shaping up to be a wonderful exhibition and I do hope that you will be able to come and see it.
