Bliss was it in that Dawn to Be Alive
Driving into work this morning, Brampton Bryan looked at its most stunningly beautiful - not to contradict Wordsworth, but it was even more beautiful last night when I walked my dog in the Park. As some visitors from Derbyshire were saying to me yesterday, this truly is an extraordinary part of the countryside to visit or indeed live in.
The weather this weekend looks fair so why not come out and see for yourself. On Monday there is a double incentive, as we have our ever popular May Brocante ( which this year has 36 stalls), and then later on there is a fundraising cricket match and BBQ at the village hall/cricket pavillion. The fundraiser is for MS, and the volunteer groundsmen have been hard at work over the last few days ensuring that the pitch will be in perfect condition.
Meanwhile back in Aardvark towers yesterday a small team achieved marvels moving things around in the warehouse ready for the Brocante and our Shropshire Hills Art Week exhibition which opens the following Saturday. Truly quarts can be put into pint pots! Today we will be all helping to put up two tents - needless to say the only rain of the weekend is forecast for when we are tent erecting.
Meanwhile back in the bookshop I have finally managed to put on all the books from the London Bookfair , and we consequently have a great selection of books on art and the decorative arts ready for the Bank Holiday weekend. I am now turning my attention to the first of the brilliant selection of Folio Society Books which we have just bought. The Folio tables will be groaning with the most fantastic volumes, all in very good or new condition and at a fraction of their original prices. What a treat.
After SHAW we then have our next exhibition 'An Actor's Life'. So much to get ready for that exhibition which is a celebration of the life of my Stepfather Martin Benson. If we can capture a fraction of his extraordinary character we will have done incredibly well.
