Online Bookshop up at last ; acquisition of major literature library
After a year's insane work and some 5 months late, the Aardvark online shop is now finally up and available to the public. Some of the positioning of books in the categories needs to be changed, and there are many improvements to be made, but it is so great to see our titles now finally available to a wider public.
The website going live has happened just in time for our first major purchase of the year; a large collection of literature, poetry and drama titles from the library of Professor Joan Rees. Professor Rees was with her husband - an expert on Italian literature - a bulwark of the faculty at Birmingham for many decades. The books which have become available following her move to a smaller home, represent a fraction of her total library, but they provide a wonderful insight into her pre-occupationss as a writer and teacher. One particular highlight is a group of over 20 books on the writer and diplomat Sir Philip Sidney ( 'I shall meet with Sir Philip Sidney, and other heroes of that kidney' as Eliot once wrote ), and a similar sized group of books on Dante Gabriel Rosetti. In short a joy for all lovers of literature, and shortly available not just in the shop, but also on our wonderful new website !
