Arcadia, Vivaldi, Flea Market, Bank Holidays
Like the labours of Hercules, the clearing of the warehouse ready for Bank Holiday Monday's flea market, was a task at once unimaginable and imperitive. Much thanks for the brave souls who saw it through and we are now all ready for Monday with a clear clean warehouse and two tents erected.
A nice email from Tom Bowes the co-supremo of the Arcadia music festival reminded me of good things in the offing for later in the year. Full details will miraculously appear on our website shortly, but it is going to be great. There is an Arcadia fundraiser at Stokesey Court next month when there will be a chance to hear the famous Piano designed by Edwin Lutyens.
Last night I was listening to one of the new CDs that we just had into the bookshop. Concertos for woodwind and string instruments by Vivaldi. The particular CD I listened to was part of a project to record all the manuscripts held in the Turin Library.
All is set for the flea market on Monday, and with 36 stalls this is one of the largest we have had. A really great mixture of different things for sale also. Bank Holidays can sometimes be a bit depressing some how, but with our Flea market and the cricket match/BBQ on the village cricket pitch, you have no excuse for not being in a good mood.
