Day two of the history weekend
Day two of the history weekend
After a very busy day yesterday in the history weekend, today we have more events with talks and practical archery demonstrations. This weekend has been quite a contrast with our guest lecturers Peter Burden and Professor Charles Watkins talking about beauty, the sublime and the picturesque, whilst next to them discussions were had on the practicalities of fighting through the ages.
Next weekend we have both the 'Flavours of Herefordshire' with Mary Berry, and our own Vide Grenier on the Bank Holiday Monday. A record number of stalls have booked for the event, and Little Rumba will be playing tracks from their new CD.
Looking further ahead our thoughts are now turning to H.Art and our double exhibition of textiles and Sculpture/Painting. We have had some special plinths designed to set off the sculptures and I am very excited by the dynamics of this event this year. We have extended the exhibition for two weeks, so for any-one who is not free during the H.Art week itself, there are two further weeks to see it before it closes.
Whilst Charles Watkins was with us yesterday for the lecture, he mentioned that he has a new book on trees published this autumn. To mark its publication we will be undertaking a guided walk in Brampton Bryan Park with tea included in October. More details shortly.
