Michael Rosen on Herefordshire Libraries
In the car going off to buy books this morning I heard a interesting programme on Radio 4 in which Michael Rosen, popular children's author and former Children's Laureate - talked to librarians and library users in Herefordshire.
Those of us who live in Herefordshire often feel that we are a bit unloved and unnoticed, and the fact that such a distinguished author would base a programme in the county was good news. We are still awaiting final decisions on library provision in the county - the plan to close all but one libraries has been suspended not withdrawn - and hopefully the fact that people are watching will cause those in power to think again. As one who has been involved with books all there working life it is hard to picture a world without libraries, and those of us who feel like that need to make our voices heard
