Aardvarks Back from Norfolk, Art of the Print, Point to Point, hard pounding
Back from a wonderful short break in North Norfolk on the coast near Holkham and Burnham. A fantastic area and I am glad to say one still full of bookshops and booklovers. Even though I was on holiday I found a little group of books on dolls houses to buy (you can take the aardvark out of the shop, but not the shop out of the aardvark). Great memories of the gardens around the ruins of Walsingham Abbey and of that fantastic beach in Holkham bay.
But now we are back all thoughts turn to the 'Art of the Print' exhibition. I am in the process of collecting everything back from the framers and I am delighted about the work that we are assembling. Had a superb meeting with Drusilla Cole last week in which she framed the different techniques that lie behind the different types of prints in the clearest language I have ever heard (her phrase 'It's all about the groove' is one I am definitely going to be stealing). So if you have ever been interested in what is entailed in artist prints (as opposed to commercial lithography) this exhibition will be something of a revelation. Exhibition opens at 11am on the Saturday 5th of May.
Don't forget if you are after a superb day out the Brampton Bryan Point to Point will run this Sunday from lunchtime on the much loved Temeside course. Why not come to Aardvark in the morning and go on to the Point to Point for lunch and some terrific equine excitement?
Now I am back, it is all aardvark noses (and what long noses they are) to the stone that they call grind. I have some fantastic books to process and put into the shop, including a wonderful small library that I bought just before I went away which has specialist books on scottish art, books on paint techniques and some great military and art titles. Really looking forward to showing everyone our latest stock when they come into the shop.
