Phew. A bit of a breather
Wow what an amazing few weeks it has been in the bookery. The weekend after our busiest ever October Brocante/Fleamarket, we spent all of last weekend in Hereford selling cookery books with Paul Hollywood and the Fabulous Baker Brothers. Meanwhile in the shop it was bedlam as Arthur Aardvark was on his own - his helpers were either in Hereford or off gallivanting. And because he was flying solo that was the weekend that every-one decided to come to the shop.
Amongst those who came in were Anna from the Much Wenlock Bookshop - a recent bookshop of the year winner. If you have not been to Anna's shop do not delay. It is the best example I know of a traditional bookshop with knowledgable staff and a great selection of books new and secondhand.
This week has been a lot quieter as half-term is over and the Christmas rush has not yet started. The perfect time to make sure that everything is in place for our last two events of the year the Winter Warmer on Saturday the 23rd of November and the Christmas Fair on Sunday 8th of December. We are fully booked for stalls for the Xmas fair but we are taking names for a reserve list in case we have a few drop outs. The Winter Warmer is a new event that combines wonderful music from Dave Luke and John Hymas of Little Rumba fame, with a mini wine-tasting by Robin Hill of Warehouse Wine.
We now have a date to go live on the selling part of the website - yes I know we have been talking about this for months. By the end of next week we will be live, although there will still be many things to sort out ( principally the categorising of books which we are having to do by hand - no small job ). Then Christmas will be upon us and it will be the end of another year in the bookery. Lots to look forward to next year including our third and final map exhibition 'Mapping Britain'! - Well, probably "Mapping Wales and the Marches"... plans are afoot!
