Bank Holiday Happiness, All UK online book orders now sent tracked, sad colleague news
How often do we get brilliant weather for a whole Bank Holiday weekend? - well, last weekend we broke the mould!
Yes, there was a bit of rain right at the end of Monday afternoon, but other than that the sun shone all weekend - particularly on our brilliant car boot on Sunday. Thank you to all the brilliant exhibitors and to all the incredible visitors. Many many many apologies to those of you who arrived on Monday due to my idiotic mistake in the advert copy for the South Shropshire Journal. I have been given a well-deserved telling off by Ethel, and I promise you it will not happen again. Our next Car Boot is on Bank Holiday Monday 30th of August. This time the date and day are definitely right - I have checked them several times. We are already starting to fill up with stall bookings, so if you want a stall, give us a call. Pitches are still a very reasonable £10 and we will again be limiting pitch numbers for Covid safety reasons.
I did a book clearance on Thursday - or rather I started one as I will need to go back to finish - and I have a huge book clearance coming up in the next fortnight. There is certainly no shortage of books coming into the building, so please do help us by coming in and buying some to take away with you!
On the website front, the big news is that all UK orders are now sent on a Royal Mail tracked service at no extra cost. We have decided to do this for all orders across all the platforms we sell on and although remarkably few items have got lost over the last couple of years (we have been using a part tracked service for some time), I hope that moving to a fully tracked service will give more assurance.
Finally in some sad news: our colleague J who has been such a joyfest since she joined us a couple of years ago, will be leaving the bookshop to take up a brilliant new job. We will miss her greatly, as it has been a real pleasure to work alongside her. In the short term we are getting some temporary help to get us through the summer, but we will be looking to recruit in the early autumn.
