Food, Food and More Food
The autumn is the time when we turn our thoughts to food and foodie books. We have bookstalls at three food fairs ( Ludlow, Narberth and Hereford ), and we also start the planning for our own food fair next summer.
Yesterday we spent a happy hour ( sadly with no alcohol ), working on the leaflet for our own Mortimer Country Food Fair which we like to have in time to hand out at the much larger Ludlow Food Fair in the middle of September. This year's Ludlow fair is looking as good as ever, with a fantastic line up of cooks and activities.
Narberth will see two appearances by festival president Elisabeth Luard, whilst Hereford has man of the moment Paul Hollywood, and the Fabulous Baker Brothers. We always have a great range of cookery books during the autumn and it feels like a suitable way to prepare for Christmas, to spend our lunch hours leafing through the new books as they come in.
Meanwhile 'Catherine the Cake' has been thinking about expanding the range of cakes that we have on offer, and starting to include some cakes that are suitable for Vegans or those with dairy and egg intolerances. Her range of Gluten free cakes have proved very popular, and the Orange Gluten Free cake that we have in today has proved one of the hits of the summer. For those looking for Gluten free meals in the area Jo Bruce's Garden Café always offers a great range of gluten free savoury and sweet things to eat.
