The Aardvark Blog
Change, Change, Change
Change, Change, Change
Lots of changes for 2016 with fresh plans for Aardvark Events and some news on the Aardvark team. Holly, who has been with us for a year, will be leaving in early Spring to work full time as an artist. She will be featured in a forthcoming BBC Countryfile this January, as well as in our 'Garden' Exhibition at Easter. She has been brilliant, and we are hoping that she will still come back to help us out for the odd day from time to time.
With Holly going we are looking to recruit a full-time member of the team from February. If you would like to work at Aardvark please send your letter and CV to ethelaardvark@btconnect.com.
Meanwhile book buying has started with a bang, with some very successful purchasing at auction and from private individuals. Particularly pleased to be able to purchase a very good copy of Edith Wharton's 'Italian Villas and Gardens. This was Wharton's second book and pre-dates her wonderful novels such as Ethan Frome. The text is as well written as one would imagine, but what makes the book are the illustrations by Maxwell Parish. Our copy is in the Parish designed picture boards, rather than leather, and is in altogether very good condition.
Last night we were heads down with Ben from Visual Works working on the new Aardvark Books brochure for 2016 (to be a tasteful shade of Red Morocco), which had been rewritten by team member Katy (notwithstanding her having a cracking headache). Katy will also be helping us with our plans for developing the Bookburrow, so watch this space.
Meanwhile our first event of the year, the Aardvark Sale, starts on Saturday 16th January. Every book in the shop will be discounted, and there will also be a tent full of bargains. Wow.
