Post Frankfurt, Show tunes, new staff member, the coming of wi-fi to Aardvark Café
Back from a very successful trip to the Frankfurt Bookfair and straight into the shop on Tuesday. If I looked more than usually bleary eyed, and/or was more or less incoherent, my apologies. This morning after a good nights sleep I feel much more human, and can therefore report that I have now finished processing the CDs of original cast recordings of musicals I bought last week.
Having been for many years a book-only bookshop, over the last year we have greatly expanded our offering and you can now buy a cuddly toy, a DVD, a CD and numerous other gifts including aprons, t- towels and more from Simon Drew. Katy was saying yesterday that we are rapidly becoming a one-stop Christmas shopping emporium and I would have to agree with her. The CDs are already selling well on-line so if you are looking for the music from an obscure Broadway production you need to rush to Aardvark immediately.
Our biggest news however is that we have made an appointment following a round of interviews last week. Petra had her first day today, and she now joins a team that includes Sarah and myself, Katy, Julia (another recent team member) and Paul. Thank you to all who applied and to those who gave their time to come in for interview.
Other exciting news is that we now have superfast Broadband into the building, and that is allowing us to begin to offer fast wi-fi to our café customers. A router for the café is being installed on Friday afternoon and should be available from Saturday onwards. What could be better than the chance to check your email and enjoy a world famous Aardvark cup of coffee and cake.
More on our Frankfurt purchasers when I get more details on when they will be delivered.
