"The Presence of Absence" ~ join author Pamela Petro, along with former National Poet of Wales Gillian Clarke, poet and playwright Menna Elfyn, poet Paul Henry and author Mike Parker for a day of poetry and prose about how important place is to us, in the barn at Aardvark Books on Sunday 12th June!
Sunday 12th June 2022
‘The Presence of Absence’ ~ join the author of 'The Long Field', Pamela Petro, along with former national Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke; award winning poet and playwright, Menna Elfyn; Poet and Songwriter, Paul Henry, and Mike Parker, author of 'The Red Hill' for a day of poetry and prose about how important place is to us.
All of these writers and poets have a special affinity with Wales, through birth or happenstance. The concept of ‘hiraeth’— for which there is no precise English translation, but is all about longing—will weave through the day.
A selection of books by the authors and poets will be available for sale and book-signing. There will also be an exhibition of paintings by Ann Fletcher-Williams, work inspired by "The Long Field". The paintings will also be available for sale.
The day takes place in our barn, surrounded by the fields and hills of Brampton Bryan in the upper Teme Valley, not far from the Welsh border and hills of mid-Wales.
Refreshments: tea, coffee and biscuits are provided and a light lunch will be available from Aardvark Cafe (please mention when booking if you would like lunch).
More details of the programme coming soon, or to reserve a place please contact Anna Dreda, info@wenlockbooks.co.uk, or call Aardvark Books 01547 530744.
